Different Type of Gemstones in Pakistan

Pakistan, our country is one of the richest countries in the world with respect to minerals such as precious diamond, gold, gemstones, and natural fuel etc. Pakistan got independence from British rule on 14th August, 1947. Before the independence of Pakistan, the rulers of this piece of land were Britishers, or Hindus, or different Muslims, who ruled this area. They were very reluctant to extract gemstones and use them as jewels and trade them to increase their economy. Even this piece of land was so valuable because of its quality in gemstone production so it attracted different rulers to come and conquer it. This land increased their greed for gems and diamonds. There are a lot of gemstones that were mined in this region and it even dates back to the ancient Indus valley civilization and Gandhara civilization. One of the main causes of the Greek invasion of this region was due to its riches in gemstones.  Even Mughals came here for mining of minerals and gemstones. The main reason for the British occupation of sub-continent was due to the fact that this region which is now called Pakistan is rich in minerals and especially gemstones; and in fact all the rulers who ruled and tried to conquer this land, they only wanted its riches and gems.

Among all the precious and valuable gemstones that are mined in Pakistan, the most important gems are Beryl. This is a family of precious crystals. Apart from Pakistan, they are found in Brazil, Afghanistan, Canada, Zambia, Colombia, and Madagascar. But they are found in a good quantity in Pakistan. Another crystal is Corundum which comes from Ruby family. They are the hardest and toughest gemstones and they are simply beautiful. Their beauty makes them expensive and rare in the market. Other precious and valuable crystals and gemstones that are found in Pakistan are Diamonds, Emerald, Peridote, and Tourmaline. Their rareness and vulnerability makes them the most expensive and valuable gemstones of Pakistan and probably the whole world.

There is almost every kind of gemstone that is found in Pakistan. There are all kinds, for example there are rare gemstones minerals that are only found in Pakistan, there are many vulnerable gems that are found in excess in Pakistan and the rest of the world has them in rare quantity. There are also many minerals found in Pakistan that are found all over the world for example Mineral Salt, Margarine, Aquamarine, and Actinolite etc. But fortunately, these all kinds and types of gemstones and minerals are found all over the Pakistan, means they are found in all terrains of Pakistan; from rocky Baluchistan to windy and wet coastal areas; from the deserts of Thal and Thar to the plains of Punjab; from the valleys of Kashmir to the height of the mountain ranges of Karakorum, Himalaya, and Hindukush. Minerals and gemstones are everywhere and Pakistan is blessed from this wealth.

Quartz gemstone is also a valuable and expensive crystal after Diamond. It is mined and extracted in different types in Pakistan. The most common type is known as mountain Quartz. As the name says, it is found in the mountains. Pakistan’s mountain ranges are rich in minerals and gemstones and they are quite rich in mountain Quartz. Quartz crystal is the transformer of energy, which is why they are used up in different electrical components and are also used to communicate. Quartz crystals are buried deep within the Earth. Miners dig them and take them up. It is being extracted for almost ten thousand years; still it is considered as a vulnerable mineral gemstone. Like any other gemstone, Quartz is also extracted in many kinds.

There are many other kinds of Quartz crystal. One of them is known as Smoky Quartz. Its chemical formula is SiO2. It varies from black to brown. Apart from Pakistan, it is found in Africa, Scotland, Colorado USA, Brazil, and Switzerland. It is used extensively in making of jewellery. Another type of Quartz crystal is Rutilated Quartz. They range from light brown to pale greyish or red colour. They are very rare and they are expensive crystals, and they are used by watch making brands to manufacture watches. Rose Quartz is another type of Quartz crystal that is present abundantly in Pakistan. It is also known as love stone. Amethyst is also a Quartz crystal and it is found in Pakistan only. But some of its kinds are also present in Brazil, Zambia, Uruguay, Mexico, and some countries of Europe; but they are not as good as extracted and mined in Pakistan. Citrine is a Quartz crystal that is found in Pakistan. They are used to make watches. Vogel crystals and Lemurian Seed crystals are also a Quartz crystal type. They are used extensively by watch manufacturing companies such as Rolex and Omega.

There are more than a hundred kinds of gemstones that are mined in Pakistan. Almost every part of this beautiful and blessed country is rich in gemstones. If the leaders and government sector pays more attention towards this industry, then economy of Pakistan will flourish and it will lead to the betterment for the people of Pakistan.
